The Engine Shed: Scotland’s Building Conservation Centre

The Engine Shed is an ambitious project to create Scotland’s first dedicated building conservation centre. The previously derelict Engine Shed in Stirling was restored to house a Centre for learning and training with something for everyone. It opened to the public providing family friendly activities, craft demonstrations and training courses to entertain and challenge, whether you work with buildings and want to develop new skills or just want to try something new, overall serving as a central hub for building and conservation professionals and the general public.

Fergmann Window Solutions Ltd started work here in early 2015. Our work here comprised of refurbishing approximately 60+ metal windows, refurbishing / replacing metal components as required, removing existing glass (around1800 panes), painting all frames, refitting with new 6.4 laminate glass panels and refitting said frames. Twenty of these windows were fitted with electrical actuators to enable them to automatically open for ventilation purposes.
